Center for the Interpretation and Promotion of Vinho Verde – CIPVV The CIPVV is housed in a 17th-century mansion in the heart of the city’s historic center. The Centre d’Interprétation et Promotion du Vinho Verde (Vinho Verde Interpretation and Promotion Centre) has a permanent exhibition area with a rich collection of objects linked to the work of the vine and the cellar, presenting the tradition of vihno verde. The CIPV promotes and publicizes the traditions, practices and customs associated with vine-growing and wine production, which have always been linked to the history of the municipality of Ponte de Lima. Particular emphasis is placed on certification, demonstrating the importance of Vinho Verde’s internationally recognized Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (DOC) quality. A temporary exhibition space has also been set up to host cultural and artistic events, as well as exhibitions touring the region. The tasting room allows visitors to discover the diversity of our wines produced under the Vinho Verde label – white, red, rosé, sparkling and spirits. Located in north-east Portugal, Ponte de Lima is right in the heart of the Vinho Verde region. This region is divided into nine sub-regions; Ponte de Lima is part of the Lima sub-region. The Portuguese Pilgrim’s Way to Santiago de Compostela (also known as the Central Route) crosses the entire municipality of Ponte de Lima, making the CIPVV an obligatory stopping-off point for all those who enjoy the magnificent wine-growing landscapes of our region.
